The Matchbox Theatre

The Matchbox Theatre is a well-established, highly-regarded amateur dramatic society largely made up of members of St Francis'.  The group was started in 1981.  We perform a wide variety of plays on the tiny stage in the church hall (hence the name) to an ever-increasing and appreciative audience - at Christmas, around Easter and in July. When rehearsing we meet on Sunday and Monday evenings (and occasionally Wednesday) at the hall.

The  next production is a comedy entitled 'England Expects'.  It is directed by John Mackintosh, and written by our resident playwright, Steve Tolmie.. The play is being held on Thursday 2nd, Friday 3rd and Saturday 4th December 2021 at 8pm each evening.  Tickets cost £8.50 for adults and £6 for children.  Click here for a form for ordering tickets by post..  You can also order tickets online via 'Ticket Source'.  Click here for online tickets.  The Box Office phone number is 0845 680 456
