In 2007 the men of the two churches decided to form a group were they could meet and discuss issues affecting Christians today, so in April of that year we held the first meeting. Regular meeting have been held since and cover a range of subjects each led by a member of the group.
The Men's Group meets on the second Monday of the month, alternating venues between St Francis and St Mary's. The meetings usually start at 8 pm with coffee and are relaxed and informal with a simple structure, usually focused on a subject of interest which may be based on recent events or from seasonal subjects. The meetings usually last about 90 minutes and afterwards discussion usually continues over a drink in the local pub. We have around a dozen members and extend a warm welcome to anyone else who would like the opportunity to discuss important issues for Christians in today's society with other men.
The next meeting will be on Monday, 10th September in St Francis’ Church at 8pm. We will explore the hot topic of assisted dying. This meeting is also open to any women who wish to listen or contribute to the debate.
