During the weekend 9th to 11th November, our Church held a Festival of Peace, commemorating 100 years since the end of World War I.
This community event was opened on Friday 9 November at 10.30am by Cllr David Cartwright, the Deputy Mayor of Bromley. Refreshments were available and music was provided by Langley Park Boys School. The church was open all weekend with floral displays, photographs of West Wickham from the period, poems and readings by The Matchbox Theatre, as well as opportunities for people to have quiet moments of reflection. On Friday 9 November there was a reflective service in the evening at 8pm. To see the Reflections used in this Service click here. On the Saturday evening Croydon Male Voice Choir gave a wonderful concert. On Sunday 11 November, St Francis held a Remembrance Day Service at 10.45am with members of uniformed organisations among the 189 people attending. Two films were shown during the weekend - 'All Quiet on the Western Front' and 'War Horse'
